Miscast: An Acting Class

Have you dreamed of playing Stella but you're always cast as Stanley? Constantly playing the old codger but you have always thought you'd make a great Romeo? Always an extra but want to play a lead? Break typecasting with Miscast, an exploration in your secret- or not so secret- dream roles. Release preconceptions and transcend limitations of the binary methods of casting. Chase the dream to play any character you want to be with scenes and monologues. 8 weeks, 3 hours/week Starting August 12.

David Henderson has taught acting professionally for 15 years and has been a prolific director for more than 30. He has assisted directors such as Leigh Silverman, Michael Mayer and Michael Wilson. As the co-Artistic Director of Method Machine Lab, he plans to do great and radical things with Rosie Gordon. Local directing credits: Deer and Red at Ojai Arts Center Theater and The New Century at Santa Paula Theater Center. In Rochester, NY David was the Artistic Director of an earlier version of Method Machine and directed more than 20 productions, including Angels in America. In NYC, Henderson directed at New York Theater Workshop, Gallery Players, Ontological Theater and more. His humble beginnings started as the Assistant Director for the West End production of Wit after two years as a stage manager with the show in NYC.
